Kids Fire Camp Activities

Join us at Fire Camp events during the summer months or complete our Online Fire Camp as a family at home or as a class at school.

Activities to do at home

Complete the activities below to learn about fire safety and to earn a prize!

Activity #1: Smoke Alarms

Smoke alarms help alert us to a fire and are important for home fire safety. Complete the activity to check your smoke alarms and watch the video below:

Activity: Check Your Smoke Alarms

Find and test your smoke alarms.

  • Find all the smoke alarms where you live. With an adult, check your smoke alarms. This means pushing the test button to see if they’re working AND checking the manufacture date.
  • If the smoke alarm beeps and is less than 10 years old and batteries are up to date, then you have a working smoke alarm.
  • Make sure to have a smoke alarm installed in every sleeping area, outside the sleeping areas and one of every floor.

Optional Activity Sheet: Sparky's Connect the Dots With Math to download and print.

Activity #2: Plan Your Fire Escape

If a fire breaks out in your home, you have less than two minutes to get out safely once the smoke alarm sounds. Everyone needs to know what to do and where to go if there is a fire, including you!

Create a fire escape plan with your family and practice escaping your home in case of fire. Complete the activity and watch the video to create your own fire escape plan for your home.

 Activity: Home Fire Escape Plan

Steps to make your own fire escape plan

  • Download our escape plan worksheet and draw a simple floor plan of your house.
  • Label two ways out of every room – especially sleeping areas.
  • Decide on a family meeting place in a safe area outside.
  • Go over the plan with every member of your family.
  • Check the smoke alarms in your house by pressing the TEST button on each alarm.
  • Practice the plan with your family.

Activity #3: Coloring Page

Finish off all your activities by coloring a fire engine.

Activity: Sparky Fire Engine Coloring Page

All done? Request your certificate & prize!

Once all the activities are complete, request a completion certificate for your child and we'll send a prize:
