Community members are invited to share feedback on South County Fire commissioner election redistricting, following the annexation of Edmonds into the regional fire authority (RFA).

• Residents can provide input during a free Open House on Tuesday, June 30, 6-8 p.m. at Edmonds Downtown Fire Station, 275 Sixth Ave. N., Edmonds. 

• A public hearing on the redistricting proposal will also take place during the board’s regular meeting July 7, which begins at 7 p.m. The public can attend the meeting in person at South County Fire Headquarters, 12425 Meridian Ave. S, Everett, or participate remotely via Zoom teleconferencing (Meeting ID 861 1281 5239). 

The RFA is governed by seven elected fire commissioners – two currently elected at-large and five elected from commissioner districts with roughly the same population.

An independent consultant drafted four proposals that rebalance population across commissioner election districts and give Edmonds residents opportunity for direct representation.

Redistricting will allow residents to run for one or more districted commissioner positions that include Edmonds. Edmonds residents can already vote on any commissioner position in a general election, regardless of district. Edmonds residents can also run for at-large board positions.

Edmonds has been represented on the board by a non-voting liaison since the city annexed into the RFA in June 2025.
