Chief Stedman awarded Chief Fire Officer designation

Post Date:03/26/2019 2:27 PM
Chief StedmanSouth County Fire Chief Bruce Stedman has successfully completed the credentialing process that awards him the professional designation of Chief Fire Officer (CFO) conferred by the international Center for Public Safety Excellence Commission on Professional Credentialing.

The CFO designation is a voluntary program designed to recognize individuals who demonstrate excellence in seven measured components: experience, education, professional development, professional contributions, association membership, community involvement and technical competencies. Chief Stedman received his original designation in 2010. To maintain the designation, individuals need to show they have continued to develop as a CFO in four areas: professional development, professional contributions, active association membership and community involvement.

A board consisting of members of the fire and emergency services profession, academia and municipal agencies reviews each application and recommends successful candidates for designation to the commission.

Chief Stedman has been a member of the fire service for 41 years and is the first fire chief of South County Fire, a regional fire authority formed in 2017. South County Fire provides 24-hour staffing at 14 neighborhood fire stations to serve more than 250,000 residents of unincorporated south Snohomish County and the cities of Brier, Edmonds, Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace.
