FIRE DISTRICT 1
Voters in Lynnwood and Fire District 1 approved the creation and funding of the South County Fire as a Regional Fire Authority (RFA) in August 2017.
South County Fire began operation Oct. 1, 2017.
Fire District 1 Continues
The RFA has replaced Fire District 1 as a service provider. Fire District 1 continues to exist so that the District’s EMS levy can be collected and revenues transferred to the RFA. It is anticipated that in the future the RFA will ask voters pass an EMS levy to take the place of the Fire District 1 EMS levy, at which time Fire District 1 will ask its voters to dissolve the entity.
Until then, the existing Fire District 1 commissioners will continue to meet as a board, and to serve on the RFA’s transition board.
