South County Fire officials meet with legislators in Olympia

Post Date:01/26/2018 3:44 PM

Chiefs Comimssioners at Legislative DaySouth County Fire officials traveled to Olympia yesterday to take part in the Washington Fire Chiefs and Washington Fire Commissioners Association Legislative Day.

During their visit, commissioners and chief officers from South County Fire met with state legislators to discuss fire service issues. This included voicing support for a permanent law change to continue statewide fire service mobilizations for major disasters and large-scale emergencies in addition to fires. This law expanding statewide mobilizations to include all-hazard responses, not just fires, was enacted following the Oso landslide and will expire in 2019 unless legislators to take action to make it permanent.

South County Fire is a regional fire authority serving more than 250,000 residents in Brier, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace and unincorporated south Snohomish County.
